Mikael Awake, assistant professor of English, will talk about his work on the new book Dapper Dan: Made in Harlem. The book, which has garnered praise from sources ranging from Nas to The New York Times, recounts Daniel R. Day’s life from his Harlem youth through his emergence as one of the pre-eminent designers of street style. Awake will tell the story of Dapper Dan, talk about his experiences co-writing the book, and describe how it’s been received.
