Kirk O’Riordan, director

Some of the college’s most dedicated and musically audacious soundsmiths take the stage with the Lafayette College Contemporary Music Ensemble (LCCME)—membership in the ensemble is by invitation of the director. The core instrumentation of the ensemble is flute, clarinet, violin, violoncello, piano, and percussion. LCCME performs music by 20th- and 21st-century composers: from emerging composers (including Lafayette students!) to established masters such as Arvo Pärt, John Cage, George Crumb, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Terry Riley. Over the years, LCCME has premiered more than 20 new pieces, all of which were composed specifically for the ensemble. Not your standard concert hall fare, every performance is a revelation.
