Lafayette seeks to foster cross-cultural knowledge and understanding through cultural activities that focus on arts and culture with roots in contemporary Muslim-majority regions of the world.
Recognizing the vibrant diversity of Muslim arts, cultures, and identities throughout the world and at home in the United States, Lafayette College and the Williams Center for the Arts‘ Performance Series will explore a variety of contemporary Muslim artistic expressions through a project called Tapestries: Voices Within Contemporary Muslim Cultures.
Visit the Tapestries site to see what’s coming up on campus.
In collaborative experiences between artists and our campus and local communities, in mainstage performances at the Williams Center and related interdisciplinary activities throughout the campus, Tapestries seeks to reach new audiences, deepen understanding and awareness, and cultivate broad-minded citizens of the world.
T
apestries is made possible in part by a grant from the Association of Performing Arts Professionals; Building Bridges: Arts, Culture, and Identity, a component of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art. Read more about the Building Bridges program here.
