Jazz Combos get creative with jazz compositions and arrangements in a variety of styles, gamely embracing improvisation while still honoring the source material. Songs like “Blue Bossa” by Kenny Dorham, “Good Bait” by Tadd Dameron, “Corcovado” by Antonio Carlos Jobim, “All Blues” by Miles Davis, and “Star Eyes” by Don Raye and Gene DePaul are some favorites of the Jazz Combos—the program varies, but don’t be surprised to hear one or more of these played in concert. Do be charmed by where the improvisation takes the arrangement, though!
